BC SPCA – Spayghetti & No Balls (Thurs Feb 10)

The BC SPCA’s annual Spay-Ghetti and No Balls is back this year as an intimate affair. The event will be taking place at the Vancouver Rowing Club, on Thursday February 10th. The entertainment line up features a titillating burlesque show by Vancouver’s own Pandora and the Locksmiths, who will blow you away with their sultry moves and smokey jazz tunes, as well as BC’s very own Frank Sinatra tribute artist Rick Valiant.

Join Karen’s latest efforts bundling, counting, sorting, and folding sheets, and writing messages of hope to the needy.  Karen is back at The Hotel from her most-recent goodwill missions around the globe. Karen will be back at it collecting and recycling the hotel sheets and linens and repurposing them for worthy causes. A well-meaning activist, Karen has contributed The Waldorf’s used bedding to numerous charities in Vancouver and around the world, including the homeless, the destitute in the Downtown Eastside and Surrey, and to victims of natural disasters in Haiti and Pakistan.

The Waldorf Hotel launches Room 103 with the return of Paul Wong’s: The Hotel. Over the next few months, Off Main will present 3 of the 12 site-specific performances and art installations created by Paul Wong that wowed the thousands who attended the Grand Opening of The Waldorf Hotel on Halloween. Wong invited participants to wander the hallways and enter ‘guest rooms’, blurring the boundaries of public and private space. Expect nothing/will happen, and it did.

Amacon – Tree Lighting Celebration (Dec 2, 2010)

On Thursday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. Amacon will kick off the holidays with a Christmas tree lighting at the Vancouver Art Gallery (Georgia Street side). The lighting of the Rockefeller-style 50-foot tree is the largest of its kind in Western Canada and will raise money for a variety of local charities.  The event will be emceed by Rock 101’s Bro Jake, with appearances by the BC Lions, the BC Lions Cheerleaders, the Vancouver Giants, the Vancouver Children’s Choir and the guest of honour, Santa Claus. Entertainment acts begin at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a 10-second countdown prior to the lighting of the tree at 6:45 p.m.  Fore more information, please see the flyer below.
