This is my third baby so I already know how demanding the postpartum recovery period is for your body while taking care of a newborn.
A couple weeks before my due date, I pre-ordered meals made specifically for recovery and nursing, delivered right to my door from Fresh in Your Fridge, a Vancouver-based custom meal prep and personal chef service.

You know how people say moms love to plan? Well, this was THE BEST THING I did for myself postpartum.

I ordered four weeks of meals and ended up sharing most of it with my husband Steve who is on parental leave. The portion sizes were generous enough to cover weekday lunches for both of us.
What’s Included in Fresh in Your Fridge Postpartum Recipes
One of the things that stood out most to me was the variety and quality of the meals. The Fresh in Your Fridge Postpartum Recipes weren’t bland “diet food” — they actually felt comforting, flavourful, and satisfying while still being nourishing for recovery.
Here are some examples of meals we received throughout the month:
- Golden Temple Soup
- Grilled Steak and Roasted Veggies with Chimichurri Sauce
- Korean Bulgogi Beef Bowl with sautéed vegetables
- “Butter” Chickpea Curry
- Shiitake Mushroom and Chicken Congee
- Mediterranean Chickpea Falafel Bowl with Quinoa, roasted sweet potato, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and lemon tahini sauce
On top of the meals, we had bone broths (perfect for sipping in the mornings), hearty soups, herbal tea infusions, and a steady rotation of snacks (chickpea blondies, lactation bites, oatmeal cookies, carrot muffins) throughout the week.
Everything is designed to be nourishing, easy to digest, and supportive for postpartum with ingredients like healthy fats from nuts, warming broths, and nutrient-dense grains like quinoa and forbidden rice, plus lots of veggies. I loved that I didn’t have to think about what to eat, something healthy was always there!

I also appreciated that everything arrived freshly frozen, so you can save anything you don’t finish for later.
