Vancouver’s Happy Planet Launches Line of Bottled Nut Smoothies

Adding to their extensive fresh, packaged food and beverage line, Happy Planet has recently launched a line of bottled Nut Smoothies.  Made locally in BC with fresh, premium, all-natural and certified organic ingredients, these almond and cashew-based smoothies are dairy-free, gluten-free and soy-free, and contains no preservatives, artificial ingredients, colourings or anything that you can’t pronounce.

In general, almonds and cashews are considered healthy because of their high levels of monounsaturated fats (the “good fats”), which are the same type of health-promoting fats as found in olive oil, which has been shown to lower cholesterol in blood.  They are also rich in Vitamin E, which helps fight inflammation, and magnesium, essential for calcium absorption for strong bones.

Happy Planet nut smoothies currently come in four flavour varieties:

  • Vanilla Chai – Creamy, nutty goodness infused with chai and smoothed off with vanilla.
  • Salted Caramel – a rich, creamy, caramel with a hint of sea salt.
  • Chocolate – Rich, Dutch cocoa chocolate.  High in iron at 15% of recommended daily value per serving.
  • Coffee – Made with cold-brewed coffee for a small caffeine kick.

My favourite flavour variety is the Vanilla Chai, followed by the Salted Caramel.  I also enjoy the Coffee variety as a morning beverage because it is a mild caffeine kick, but at 64mg / serving, it’s less than a single shot of espresso.

Happy Planet nut smoothies currently come in two sizes: the larger 900ml size is great to keep in your fridge and drink at home over the course of a few days, while the 325ml size is good as a grab-and-go beverage as you’re heading out the door.

As this is a new line of products, it is slowly being introduced into grocery stores in Vancouver, including Whole Foods, Save on Foods, Urban Fare, and more!  For more information about Happy Planet, visit: happyplanet.com.
