Craft beer lovers, this is something you won’t want to miss: The sixth annual Vancouver Craft Beer Week is kicking off on May 29th 2015 and going until June 7th 2015. All week long, VCBW will be bringing together 100+ craft breweries for craft beer tastings, food and beer pairings, music & entertainment, and unique beer events at over 25 different venues across the city.
Tickets are currently on sale for several of the week’s highly anticipated events. Some of the more creative ones include:
What The Hop? Beer Trivia! @ Colony Main Street ($60) – now sold out
Think you know your craft beer? Test your beer knowledge and have some fun with a room full of beer enthusiasts! What The Hop? will feature four rounds of trivia with prizes each round and one team taking home the grand prize – a trip to the Whistler Beer Festival in September 2015, passes & accommodations included.
This Sandwich That Beer Throwdown @ The Portside Pub ($45) – now sold out
“This Sandwich, That Beer” will once again be looking to crown the city’s finest sandwich and beer pairing. Upon entry guests will receive the tools needed (glass, plate and ballot) to sample nine sandwich and beer combinations from some of the best restaurants and breweries around! Proceeds from the event will be donated to the 2015 Aprons for Gloves for East Side Boxing.
Biercraft Belgian Showcase @ Biercraft Cambie ($75)
A VCBW annual tradition, the Belgian Beer Showcase at BierCraft Bistro is a celebration of the great craft brewing tradition of Belgium. The event will feature a wide cross section of Belgian beer styles from the old world and the new. Abbey ales, Trappistes, saisons, strong blondes, strong darks, Flemish reds. The list goes on. So grab a glass and enjoy a journey of the palette and the history of beer itself.
Brothers in Hops @ The Butcher & Bullock ($60)
They are brothers from different mothers, but all sons of the hop. Four Pacific Northwest brewers have teamed up to host a night of Hop-tastic food and drink. Each brewer will be bringing signature styles of hoppy brews for guests to sample, taste and discuss at The Butcher & Bullock.
VCBW’s official beer for 2015 is “Campfire Kolsch”, a collaboration beer brewed by 30 B.C. breweries at Red Truck Beer Co’s new brewery located in the historical Brewery Creek district, with proceeds going to their official charity, The Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society.
For event more hoppy fun, end the week at Canada’s largest craft beer festival on June 6th and June 7th. Come celebrate at the PNE Fair Grounds, where over 100 international breweries will be setting up shop to share over 400 unique craft beers.
