Vancouver-based Happy Planet first launched its fresh soup line in 2008 and their soups are known to be made with premium, all-natural ingredients, without containing any preservatives nor artificial flavours. True enough, when I took a look through the ingredient list of Happy Planet soups, there was nothing in the contents which I did not recognize. For a prepackaged, resealable product you can purchase at the grocery store, this is as close as it gets to making your own soup from scratch – without the hassle.
One package of 500ml or 650ml Happy Planet fresh soup is perfect for a light meal or snack, or as a starter for dinner. Tuscan Tomato is the perfect pairing for a grilled cheese sandwich, Kawartha Chicken Noodle is like a warm hug on a rainy day, while the flavours of Thai Chicken makes us feel a little bit wanderlust for South East Asia.
Locally Inspired Fresh Soup
Happy Planet is passionate about giving you great food that is as natural and organic as they can get it, using ingredients that you can recognize and pronounce. They are also passionate about supporting Canadian farmers so that means buying what they can get right here in Canada. Their locally inspired soups include:
- Kawartha Chicken Noodle
- Chatham Carrot & Ginger
- Chilliwack Broccoli & Cheddar
- Fraser Valley Mushroom & Mascarpone
Globally Inspired Fresh Soup
If you’re in the mood for something more exotic, try out Happy Planet’s line of globally inspired fresh soup. From Thailand to Morocco to Italy, these flavours are ready to tantalize your tastebuds with ingredients you need to go beyond your own backyard to find:
- Thai Chicken Soup
- Thai Coconut Soup
- Tuscan Tomato Soup
- Louisiana Sweetcorn and Red Pepper Soup
- Santa Fe 4 Bean Chili
- Berkley Butternut Squash Soup
- Indian Split Pea Soup
- Moroccan Chickpea Soup

I always make my own soups from scratch as I never trust all the crappy ingredients most soups out there have. However, the only brand I would trust to buy would be the Happy Planet ones! Dying to try the Thai coconut one as I haven’t had that one yet and I’ve been really curious about the taste!
