Modern Mix Vancouver received a sneak peek of the 10th Canadian location of TOPSHOP, soon to be opened at Richmond Centre on October 4th.
Since launching in 1964, Topshop has become a major style authority and one of fashion’s biggest success stories, appealing to fashion forward shoppers and industry insiders alike. I remember it was such a big deal when this iconic UK brand opened its first TOPSHOP location in downtown Vancouver two years ago, back in 2012. Since then, TOPSHOP’s Canadian expansion has continued, now with its 10th Canadian location, scheduled to open on October 4th at 9:30am at Richmond Centre.
Before the opening to the public, Modern Mix Vancouver had the opportunity to preview the new TOPSHOP. Like its other Canadian locations, the new store is attached to The Hudson’s Bay, however, there is a separate mall entrance into TOPSHOP so it’s pretty much its own boutique.
TOPSHOP has multiple concepts within the store – the front and back of the store usually carries its current fashion. Other sections includes tall, petite, jersey, shoes, and accessories. TOPMAN is in a different area, on the second floor of The Bay.
The product selection is quite fashion forward. Think of it as an upgrade (both in quality, but unfortunately also in price) from Forever 21 and H&M. Customers tend to shop at TOPSHOP when they are looking for something experimental – the currents style consists of unusual fabric cuts, materials and patterns which not everyone can pull off. For example, I noticed a lot of dresses with atypical cut-outs from the fabric, or sweaters and outerwear which were extremely fuzzy. New products are expected to arrive at the shop on a weekly basis, so there’s always something different for you to shop.
