Savour the City Supper Club at West Restaurant

Modern Mix Vancouver was invited to another edition of the Savour the City Supper Club at West Restaurant.  Hosted by The Lincoln Motor Company, this evening lived up to its promise of uniting fine food, great company and the latest from Lincoln.

If you recall from last year, our evening starts off with a test drive of a featured Lincoln vehicle, this year being the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC.  Classified as a small premium utility vehicle, we had a chance to take this new model for a spin around the block and learn about its technological features.  For example, the vehicle is compatible with Sirius XM, and there is a push-button start.  Outside of the vehicle, there is a hands-free trunk opening feature, all you have to do is kick your foot under the trunk area and motion sensors will activate the trunk to lift up.

After our test drive, we were ushered into West Restaurant and treated to a three-course meal by The Lincoln Motor Company.  Although this was a special menu for Savour the City, many of the dishes we had can be found on the regular West Restaurant menu.

Kale Caesar from West Restaurant at Savour the City Supper Club.

We ordered a Kale Caesar Salad and the Biodynamic Risotto to start.  The bacon bits in the kale salad were fat and hearty, and gave the dish a smoky tinge to it.  The brioche croutons were so deliciously buttery.

Biodynamic Risotto from West Restaurant at Savour the City Supper Club.

Not sure why the risotto was called “biodynamic” but in addition to giving the dish a bit of an unusual look, the foam around the risotto dish is made with a red pepper reduction and therefore adds flavour to the risotto.

For our main course, we had the Braised Lamb Shank which was surrounded by a heirloom bean ragout and slow roasted tomato.

Oat Panna Cotta with Poached Peaches from West Restaurant at Savour the City Supper Club

For dessert, we ordered the Oat Pana Cotta with Poached Peaches, and the Chocolate Maple Pecan Charlotte.  As Pana Cotta typically has a stiff jello texture, with the smoothness of yogurt, this dessert combined with the oat crumble and peaches reminded me of a breakfast parfait.  A sweet, small scoop of strawberry sorbet topped the dessert.  Meanwhile the chocolate maple pecan dessert was cake-like, and had a tart orange coulis drizzled on the plate.

As a reminder of the host of Savour the City, the Lincoln Motor Company logo is stencilled on in chocolate on the side of the dessert plate.  Thanks to Lincoln Motor Company for another successful Savour the City event!
