MARKET: First Etsy “Made in Canada” Marketplace at Robson Square (Sept 27, 2014)

For the first time ever, Etsy sellers across Canada will be hosting a one-day “Made in Canada” marketplace at 23 locations across the country, bringing together local Etsy sellers and communities in celebration of our country’s maker movement.

In Vancouver, Made in Canada will be hosted in collaboration with the Emily Carr Etsy Team at Robson Square.  On September 27, from 10am to 5pm, shop 57 local Etsy sellers including personalized iPhone case from Field Trip, vintage prints and decor from anewall, and bold fashion statements from Thii.  For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

“Made in Canada is a part of Etsy’s recent initiative to take the online marketplace offline, creating the opportunity for our local sellers to connect with each other, and with buyers. We are really proud to be supporting local Etsy sellers across the country, such as in Vancouver, and fostering creative collaborations and the growth of the maker movement in Canada” – Erin Green, Country Manager, Etsy Canada.

This is a great opportunity for shoppers like us to support local and meet some incredibly talented people from our community, and hear the personal stories behind unique brands, businesses and products.

The video below is an introduction to Made in Canada, and features clips of Etsy artists, including Melissa Ferreira of adhesif Clothing, discussing why it’s important to shop local.

Other BC locations hosting the Made in Canada Etsy Marketplace on September 27 includes Nanaimo Museum in Nanaimo (98 Front St.), Victoria Public Market at the Hudson in Victoria (1701 Douglas St.) and Sandhill Winery in Kelowna (1125 Richter St.).
