Cupcakes Bakery – $1 to Breast Cancer (October)

If you live in Vancouver, who hasn’t heard of the Cupcakes store? When its first bakery opened in 2001 on Denman street, the cutesy vintage cupcake shop was the talk of town. Platters of colorful pastel cupcakes sit behind the counter and the bakery has now expanded to two other locations on West Broadway and Edgemont Blvd in North Vancouver.
.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Cupcakes is proudly donating $1 from every specialty “breast cancer cause cupcake” sold to help fund research for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, in hopes of a future without breast cancer. The Breast Cancer Cupcake is a pink vanilla cupcake finished with pink buttercream and decorated with the Breast Cancer Ribbon in pink icing. This is an annual cause cupcake in partnership with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to help create a future without breast cancer; the breast cancer cupcake will be sold throughout the month of October at all Cupcakes Bakery locations.

Earlier this year, at their Commercial Drive location, they had an innovative $5/bag sale: buy a bag for $5 and take home all the clothing you can stuff into it! It’ll be interesting to see how a store like this will fit into the Kitsilano neighbourhood…
