Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits brings kids on an action-packed ride into the mind, body, and world of extreme sports, as well as the psychology and science behind them. Developed by Science North in partnership with Ontario Science Centre, this exhibition is not just for thrill-seekers. It’s an exploration of human potential, where visitors of all ages can jump, fly, dive and climb inside the minds and bodies of extreme athletes to explore the psychology, physiology, and physicality of some of the most extreme activities in the world. In this high-energy exhibition, visitors explore the technology, creativity, and innovation inherent in these sports, through interactive and immersive environments.

In this exhibition, visitors of all ages can:

  • Defy Gravity: Experience the rush of a simulated wingsuit flight, carve through virtual powder on skis or a snowboard, balance on a slackline above a canyon and so much more.

  • Test Your Limits: Conquer a parkour course, feel the grip of a climbing wall, and even ‘spend a night’ in a portaledge hanging tent (if you dare!).

  • Explore the Science: Discover the psychology behind risk-taking, the physiology of extreme athletes, and the cutting-edge technology that makes these sports possible.

Visitors will also explore wheelchair motocross, play with gravity as a BMX-er, and hear from real athletes, researchers, and innovators pushing the boundaries of human potential.

“We can’t wait for visitors of all ages to put themselves in situations that they may not have gotten to experience in real life.  Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits is a chance to step outside your comfort zone, challenge your perceptions, and discover the extreme athlete within. We’re thrilled to bring this experience to British Columbia, a province renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and thriving extreme sports community.” – Jesse Brydle, Interpretive Planner and Extreme Sports Curator, Science World.

This exhibition demonstrates that everyone is capable, able, and invited to play. Visitors will learn more about themselves – their personality, motivations, and propensity for extreme sports – and inspire them to achieve their personal life goals.

Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits is open daily to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from January 31, 2025, until May 19, 2025. Tickets can be purchased at scienceworld.ca or at the dome.
