Odd Bunch Canada Review & Discount Code

Did you know? Grocery stores have strict cosmetic standards and anything that looks or feels a little different is rejected or dumped — this could be as minor as a fruit looking asymmetrical or with a cosmetic blemish that doesn’t affect quality.  To fight food waste while bringing discounted produce to families in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, Odd Bunch is a subscription-based service that connects surplus or imperfect product from farms directly to households in the community.

My Odd Bunch Review

I have a family of four  with two adults, and two kids three and under. I ordered the ‘Medium Box’ for my family, and everything inside were typical fruit and veggie products that are pretty much staples in our household (avocados, mini oranges, kale, onions, apples, etc.)  but at 30% to 50% off grocery store prices. I haven’t noticed any imperfections in the produce of concern – maybe on occasion there will be cosmetic bumps on lemons, persimmons or butternut squash, but for the most part, the groceries look “normal” to me.

What I love about Odd Bunch is that the weekly contents of your box is not a surprise: you can actually check their website or social media to get a sneak peek at the exact products you’re getting that week, which helps with planning ahead. I also love the ‘substitution’ feature. Each week, you can substitute one item from your box with another. For our family last week, I replaced a head of lettuce with an extra serving of blueberries.

Here’s an example of what you might receive from Odd Bunch in their “Mixed Medium Box”

Currently, you can pix from Small, Medium or Large-sized boxes with a combination of fruit and/or vegetables. There is also an organic options for small or medium sized boxes, but I find that the selection is not as varied as the non-organic options.

The downside is that there is a shipping fee (for me it’s $5.99) that’s not included in the price of the box so you have to factor that in when calculating the full value of your box.

I think this is a wonderful and smart idea. I love services that help with fighting waste while offering a discount to its subscribers — a win win! If you’re looking for an Odd Bunch discount code, we’d each get 20% off our order if you use this link
