Knowing how crazy shopping centres can get in the weeks leading up to Christmas, a couple years back, we came up with a list of 10 tips to maximize your holiday shopping experience at BC’s largest shopping centre, Metropolis at Metrotown. Year after year, we’ve followed those same tips for holiday shopping. This year, however, a game-changer has arrived on the scene with the opening of RBC’s Avion VIP Pop-Up Boutique, a holiday lounge with a ton of complimentary perks and services, open exclusively to cardholders and their +1.
I am not (yet) an RBC Avion member, however, I was provided with an Avioner-for-a-Day pass to experience the Avion Holiday Boutique at Metropolis at Metrotown.
The RBC Avion Holiday Boutique is located on the upper level of the shopping centre, occupying the space where MEXX used to be, across from The Apple Store. Visitors must sign in to the festive lounge at the “Concierge” desk, and after that you are free to spend as long as you would like in the lounge.
Avion Holiday Boutique: Complimentary Coat Check
As there is complimentary coat check at the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique, this would make a great first-stop for shoppers intending to spend a couple of hours at the mall. Especially if you took public transportation to Metropolis, you’re probably bundled up with a sweater, scarf and winter coat.
Avion Holiday Boutique: Complimentary Snacks & Beverages
Skip that visit to the food court, and opt for complimentary snacks and beverages at the Avion Holiday Boutique instead. There’s hot chocolate (complete with marshmallows), Bigelow tea, coffee, and lemon-infused water to choose from. There is also an assortment of snacks – cookies, chips, candy and chocolate. You can enjoy all of these things in the lounge, or grab a lid-to go.
Avion Holiday Boutique: Complimentary Gift Wrapping
This is probably one of the only times I have ever encountered a free, non-branded gift wrapping service, aside from the complimentary services provided an individual store. The only (reasonable) caveat is that your purchase has to be a same-day purchase from Metropolis at Metrotown, up to a maximum of 5 gifts wrapped, and you need to show a receipt for proof.
In addition to the services listed above, there are also comfy chairs to sit on and relax, magazines to browse through, complimentary wi-fi, a piano for live holiday performances and more. Knowing how busy it gets at Metropolis at Metrotown during this time of year, RBC Avion has provided a wonderful experience for its cardholders to escape from the holiday bustle. Happy shopping!
