Q&A with Marge Simpson on the New MAC Cosmetics x The Simpsons Collaboration

Canadian beauty company MAC Cosmetics has been known to collaborate with fictional characters, blending beauty and pop-culture, with collections featuring Hello Kitty, Betty & Veronica and Barbie.  Their latest limited-edition line features The Simpsons, in celebration of the animated sitcom’s 25-year anniversary.  With her iconic voluminous blue hair and classy pearls, supermom Marge Simpson of the Simpsons family is the face of MAC Cosmetics’ latest campaign collaboration.

Fans of The Simpons will be able to recognize the names of the MAC Cosmetic products, many of which give a reference to characters on the show.  For example, Beehive Blue eyeshadow is the same shade as Marge’s hair, and Pink Sprinkles (like on Homer’s donuts) is a fitting name for blush.

Q&A With Marge Simpson

Q: Tell us about your beauty routine. What tips would you give your fans when it comes to mastering your iconic look?
A: Oh, I’m nothing special I’m sure! I set my blue hair by piling one stack of curlers at a time until they’re two feet tall just like anyone else.

Q: Any beauty tricks you plan on passing down to your daughters Lisa and Maggie?
A: I’ll never forget the wise advice my mother gave me: “Find a look that works for you and stick with it. Wear the same outfit every day of your life if you can help it.” It’s worked for me!

Q: What are your go-to M·A·C Cosmetics products?
A: I love them all equally! But when I want to live on the edge a little I go for Lady Danger. This red lipstick shade is bold and matches my favorite necklace. When I really want to make my eyes pop (even more than usual) I use Haute & Naughty Lash.

Q: Your eyelashes are gorgeous. Is that mascara or fake lashes?
A: I’ll tell you a secret – they’re drawn on every day by my personal stylist, Mr. Matt of Portland.

Q: You don’t age! What’s your secret?
A: I don’t really know how I stay so young! Homer and I were just talking about that at Bart’s 25th tenth birthday party.

Q: Being the youngest of three sisters, how did you set yourself apart from Patty & Selma growing up and create a look all your own?

A: It wasn’t easy. Patty and Selma are so unique, stylish and beautiful. Pardon me for a minute — I have to go tell Homer to stop laughing.

Q: How do you take your look from day to date night?
A: I slip off my day red pearls and put on my evening red pearls. They are different — you just have to look really, really close.

Q: What is Homer’s favorite shade of lipstick on you?
A: He goes wild when I wear “Carnal Instinct”, though it might be because he thinks it’s called “Caramel Instinct”.

Q: It’s Monday morning and the kids are running late for school. What’s the one type of makeup you can’t leave the house without wearing? Lipstick? Mascara? Blush?
A: Definitely lipstick and mascara. Most days Bart or Homer does something that makes me blush, so I’m covered there.

Q: What are your favorite products in the M·A·C Simpson’s collection?
A: They’re all so great, but I must say that Lisa’s Spikes really works well with my skin tone and of course, Beehive Blue complements my hair perfectly.

Q: Are there any recent makeup trends you’d love to try using the M·A·C Simpson’s collection?
A: I’d love to try a “Cat Eye” look – but I think our dog wouldn’t be too crazy about it. I don’t like to play favorites with my pets.

Q: Tell us about what it was like collaborating with M·A·C on a collection that captures that your iconic beauty look.
A: It was delightful! They were so kind and respectful of my ideas and to have these wonderful cosmetics have my name on them is just the icing on the cake. Pardon me again – I have to go tell Homer to stop drooling and saying “mmmm, cake icing.”
