MMV Weekend Brunch Series: 41 West Restaurant in Kerrisdale

Last weekend, we had a quaint brunch on the sunny terrace at 41 West Restaurant in Kerrisdale.  After a few change of hands, this restaurant spot is now a neighbourhood bistro which serves a fusion of Pacific Westcoast and French-inspired cuisine.

Through the Modern Mix Vancouver Weekend Brunch Series, we’ve had a chance to try and review over a dozen restaurants which serve brunch in Vancouver.

In terms of value, I can’t say I’ve had a better deal than this one from SocialShopper for brunch: a quaint bistro environment, high quality food made with fresh ingredients, central location right on West 41st avenue, and a satisfying meal – all for $19*!

Here were some of the highlights of our brunch:

Caprese Salad has a subtle hint of sweetness which pairs nicely with the cheese.

House-made Dungeness crab and shrimp cakes. Perfectly pan-seared on the outside and fall-apart soft on the inside. My favourite of the dishes we had at 41 West Restaurant.

Grilled tenderloin Steak & Eggs. Only about 3 oz of meat, so it’s small, but you don’t want to eat a huge steak for brunch anyway. Eggs were very runny – ask for them to be cooked for longer if you don’t like them like this.

Cinnamon-dusted french toast. To our surprise, it was filled with cream cheese – an interesting combination of sweet and savoury.

If you decide to head to 41 West for brunch, go on a sunny day so you can take advantage of the outdoor terrace.

Then, spend the remainder of your afternoon in Kerrisdale by taking a stroll along West 41st and browse through all the stores and boutiques. Hills of Kerrisdale, Courtney’s and Buzz Clothing are some of my favourites. In addition, the summer farmer’s market in Kerrisdale runs until 2pm on Saturdays, so that’s something else to see while you’re in the neighbourhood.
