Vancouver Designer Spotlight: Keltie Leanne Designs

I would say that my designs have a unique yet timeless style – I aim to create pieces that my customers will love to wear for a long time – not just a season. My pieces are feminine but never fussy and I think that’s why women love them.

Keltie Maguire of Keltie Leanne Designs is a self-taught jewellery artist who has had a passion for jewellery making and entrepreneurship since childhood.  As a kid, she used to make and sell beaded  jewellery on summer vacation.  Fast forward to adulthood – Keltie takes her passion to the next level and began her foray into premium jewellery designs in the fall of 2011.

I had the opportunity to meet Keltie during the holidays and am now a proud new owner of the Irish Luck Necklace ($110) which features five beautiful green onyx gemstones with draping 14-karat gold-filled chain.  This piece is casual enough for everyday wear, yet upon first glance, you can already see it is a well-made piece with quality materials.

The materials that Keltie currently uses in her designs include gemstones like smokey quartz, onyx, tiger’s eye and sodalite.  Being a big fan of gold, these gemstones offer a stunning contrast to her 14-karat gold filled chains and gold vermeil.

In terms of the quality of her jewellery, Keltie finds that shoppers are really impressed when they see her pieces up close and learn about the attention to detail that goes into her designs.  According to Keltie:

I hand wire-wrap my clasps onto my necklaces and bracelets so that they are very secure, and by using materials like gold fill, ensure that my designs won’t tarnish or discolor like plated jewellery will. I also think that the designs themselves are very well-thought out and often have that special touch – whether an asymmetrical detail, or unique gemstone – that my customers really love.

Keltie’s designs can be found at various Lower Mainland boutiques including Fine Finds and The Urban Rack, as well as her online store, keltieleannedesigns.com

As a female entrepreneur in Vancouver, Keltie enjoys the ability to create her own success and being able to meet and connect with other female business owners and entrepreneurs.  She advises shoppers to buy local, and support shops and businesses that do too.

I like the romantic look of the necklace not overwhelming but more demure, the colour, detail in the chain, the colour sizes of the stone and of course local make it a very desirable piece

Carnelian is supposed to be really good for boosting energy, helping with inner strength and stimulating creativity and I could definitely use some some of that! Would love this vibrant and shining piece 🙂
