For nearly 30 years, Diane Thomson has been fitting women with lingerie at her shop on South Granville. Following European trends (particularly from France and Belgium), Dianes Lingerie carries Western Canada’s largest selection of quality lingerie for every body shape and size. With a long-standing reputation for personalized customer service, Diane and her team want every customer to leave her shop with a bra that fits properly.
Modern Mix Vancouver was recently invited in to Dianes Lingerie to meet the owner herself as well as get properly fitted. Although I tried on nearly 10 different bra styles with Dianne, the below two by Marie Jo (a Belgian lingerie label) were my favourites. The “Tom Multiway Bra” (left) has a very nautical summer look with its beautiful royal blue shade and multi-wear straps made up of blue and white dots. The “Egon T-Shirt Bra” (right) comes in a fuchsia pink and has a subtle checkered pink pattern on the cups, and daisy flowers of the same shade lining the straps. The shoulder straps of both styles can be worn also as a halter and cross-back or with clear straps.
From speaking with Diane for nearly an hour while she was doing my fitting, here are some fun ways to liven up your lingerie wardrobe for summer 2012.
- Pinks & Blues – these are two hot colours for lingerie this season with endless shades to choose from. Don’t be afraid to go bold with your colour choices when you are shopping for a fashion bra.
- Fun shoulder straps – pretty shoulder straps were made to be seen!
- Embellishments – Lace and other hardware embellishments are an easy way to make any bra unique. a At Dianes Lingerie, I noticed many of the bras had feminine, floral lace trim or small bows. I also saw a sexy black lace bra, which had a corset criss-cross tie-up between the cups.
Dianes Lingerie is located at 2950 Granville Street (between 13th and 14th Avenue) and is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and Sundays and Holidays from 12pm to 5pm.
