BCAMA – Pattern of Trends (Tuesday March 24)

This is the most fashion-relevant BC American Marketing Association (BCAMA) event that I have come across. It’s early though – 7:30am at Four Seasons Hotel (791 West Georgia Street) with speakers from Bootlegger, Aritzia and Westcomb. The MC is blogger Craig Long of The Commodified (who is now the assistant editor of MONTECRISTO Magazine). On site registration price is $52.50 for non-BCAMA members, $40 for members and $25 for students. I’ll be there if I can get up early enough….. Click here for details.

Threadless – $5 Spring Cleaning Sale (Until March 30th)

**Extended until March 30th**

I haven’t bought a t-shirt from Threadless in a while, but I am still constantly updated on their sales. Threadless is an online creative community / t-shirt store with user-submitted designs. People can vote on your design on a scale of one to five and the highest scoring design gets turned into a t-shirt! And shipping and handling is fairly reasonable too. About $7 to Vancouver, the last time I bought from Threadless. And if you do decide to take advantage of this awesome deal, buy from my personal referral link HERE. Thanks!

Shop Cocoon – “Spring Forward” (March 26, 2009)

Shop Cocoon (3345 Cambie Street) is a boutique for emerging local designers to showcase their artwork, jewelry, clothing and design in shared retail space. On Thursday March 26, from 11am to 9pm, check out their “Spring Forward” designer launch event for a one-day sale to scope out your must haves for spring. The first 40 customers in the door will receive a free goodie bag worth over $35!

The “Boyfriend Blazer”

Despite the crazy Vancouver weather, spring is almost upon us and that means getting rid of the heavy winter parkas and exchanging them for a lighter option. Ironically, this new piece in my wardrobe came from raiding my mom’s closet before she left on vacation. A black, three-button tailored, “longer-than-average” BCBG blazer which can only now be labeled as a “boyfriend blazer”.

Occasionally described as retro or vintage, my personal description of The Boyfriend Blazer is more “stylish corporate”. This fairly new label in the fashion world allows a casual outfit to be dressed up with added style, without feeling out of place. Continue reading for five ways to wear The Boyfriend Blazer.
