On Saturday, I went to 49th Parallel (2152 West 4th Avenue) for coffee. 49th Parallel is a local (Burnaby) coffee roasting company which supplies coffee beans to buyers all around the world and is founded by the same guys who brought us Caffè Artigiano. I have only been to 49th Parallel twice, but it’s a great meeting spot to take a break from shopping along West 4th. Last time I ordered the Blue Earl Grey which came in a cute, baby blue teapot. This time, I ordered off the menu, a Chai Tea Latte.
One of a Few (354 Water Street) in Gastown has been voted one of the “best independent boutiques” in Vancouver and they are expression their appreciation to their customers by holding a girls-only, private shopping event on Thursday October 23rd from 7pm to 10pm. Feel free to pass on the invitation to your girl friends, sisters or even mom for a night of discounts, complementary make-up applications and personal stylists! Beverages will be served. Click to see the event invitation.
Voya Restaurant & Lounge (1177 Melville Street) is inside the new Loden Vancouver boutique hotel which is located in the rapidly developing area of Coal Harbour in downtown. Its name is derived from the word “voyage”, aligning with the thought that food can transplant the diner to places never before experienced. Their internationally fused dishes will feature fresh, local and organic ingredients.

If you live in Vancouver, who hasn’t heard of the Cupcakes store? When its first bakery opened in 2001 on Denman street, the cutesy vintage cupcake shop was the talk of town. Platters of colorful pastel cupcakes sit behind the counter and the bakery has now expanded to two other locations on West Broadway and Edgemont Blvd in North Vancouver.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Cupcakes is proudly donating $1 from every specialty “breast cancer cause cupcake” sold to help fund research for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, in hopes of a future without breast cancer. This is an annual cause cupcake in partnership with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to help create a future without breast cancer; the breast cancer cupcake will be sold throughout the month of October at all Cupcakes Bakery locations.
