10 Reasons Why I Love my bkr Waterbottle

I never thought I would write a blog post on why I absolutely adore a waterbottle.

I recently received a bkr waterbottle in a gift basket from the Toronto-based gifting company, Jule’s Baskets.  Because of Jule’s emphasis on health and wellness products in its contents, it was no surprise that a waterbottle from bkr was included in my basket.

bkr is the new Nalgene waterbottle from the early 2000’s – except 100x more stylish and BPA-free.

bkr Was Founded by Two Women

…and their story is relatable.   Tal Winter and Kate Cutler are just two friends from San Francisco, who loved to get dolled up, eat sushi, have spa days and chat on the treadmill.  Their beauty regimens involved leaving their apartments armed with mascara, a swipe of lip gloss and, their secret to flawless beauty, a bottle of water.

bkr Comes in Stylish Limited-Edition Colours & Patterns

Beyond just a container which carries liquid, your bkr waterbottle is something you want to be seen with, like a trendy purse or a cute headband.  bkr releases seasonal colours that are based on runway trends in New York, London, Paris and Milan.  When the beauty boutique Murale in Vancouver starts carrying waterbottles, you know it’s a stylish pick that’s well-aligned to the tastes of beauty queens.

bkr Names Are So Adorable

I know this has nothing to do with the quality of the waterbottle, but the names of the bkr waterbottles are so adorable and fit the colour of the silicone sleeve perfectly.  Tiptoe is a whisper of lavendar, Glow is a pretty shade of coral, Gloss is a feminine pink and exactly what you’d imagine a pink lipgloss shade to be like, Ever is a forest green and Rocket perfectly describes the red of a spaceship in children’s storybooks blasting off into space.

bkr is BPA-Free

A bkr waterbottle is essentially a glass bottle, with a silicone sleeve made of BPA-free, phthalate-free, FDA approved materials. The bottle is soda-lime glass, the sleeve and gasket are silicone and the cap is made of food-grade, recyclable polypropylene.

bkr Has a Small Mouth Piece

Unlike the drinking out of a mason jar trend, the bkr waterbottle has a small, girly mouthpiece, meaning water won’t spill when you’re taking a gulp while you’re running on a treadmill or taking a yoga class.

bkr Has a Silicone Grip

bkr’s silicone sleeve is perfectly soft and grippy, and non-toxic. It protects the glass, insulates whatever’s inside it, is dishwasher safe, clean, beautiful, and minimal. Silicone is also 100% recyclable. You can find specialty recycling centers, or mail it back to bkr and they’ll do the recycling for you.

bkr is Celebrity Endorsed

Before it sounds too crazy that I wrote an entire blog post about why I love my waterbottle, know that there is an entire photo gallery on the bkr website of celebrities who have been spotted with their bkr waterbottle (on multiple occasions!) and who probably love them as much as I do.  Celebrities include Alessandra Ambrosio, Blake Lively, Kristen Bell, Jamie Chung and Dakota Fanning.

bkr Donates to Charity

A portion of purchase proceeds goes towards initiatives which, for example, combat the global water crisis or help in the fight against cancer.  Organizations which they have supported include the Obakki Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that uses fashion and creative arts as a fundraising vehicle to bring water and education to people in Africa.

bkr is Like the Perfect T-Shirt

bkr was born out of a need to create not only a waterbottle, but a fashion essential like the perfect t-shirt: soft and easy, and something you can’t live without.

bkr Encourages You to Stay Hydrated

Ultimately, from all the reasons listed about, bkr helps you to stay hydrated because you are so excited to carry around your cute new waterbottle and can’t stop drinking from it.

In Vancouver, bkr waterbottles can be purchased from Murale at Oakridge Centre, YYoga in Yaletown and various other specialty boutiques around the city.

  1. Where in Vancouver can we find these water bottles? I know Wishlist Boutique on MacDonald and Broadway sells them but they have awful store hours.
