Noir Lash Lounge – Grand Opening Event (Thursday March 19)
Although Noir Lash Lounge (1150 Hamilton Street) has been around for a couple of months already, their official grand opening event will be on Thursday March 19th from 5pm to 9pm. Froyo Swirl – buy one get one free coupon (valid until Feb. 28th)
Froyo Swirl (820 Homer Street) in Yaletown is a healthy frozen yogurt joint. I personally haven’t tried it out myself yet, but I found a 2-for-1 coupon for their signature Froyo Swirl. The concept is simple and similar to Scoop on West 4th: take healthy, plain frozen yogurt and add toppings including blueberries, mango, oreo cookies and more! Even though it doesn’t say so directly on the coupon, the offer apparently expires on February 28th. If you end up going, let me know how it is!
George Ultra Lounge >> Obama inauguration on the big screen (Tuesday Jan. 20)
George (1137 Hamilton Street) was one of my Yaletown bar-hopping destinations on Halloween last year. (Oh wow, time flies by quickly!) With its solid lounge decor (think of stepping into someone’s really nice living room – with plain furniture, but you know they spent a lot of money on it) and extensive cocktail list, George caters to an “older-than-YUPPIE” crowd.

Anyway, George is hosting a “Goodbye George Bush” party on Tuesday January 20th. Whether you want to call it “By George” or “Bye, George!”, spend an evening “celebrating” US President George Bush’s last day in the oval office and watch the Obama inauguration on the big screen. Enjoy complimentary canapĂ©s all night. Celebritiy cocktails include the “BUrning BUsh” and “Fool Me Twice”. Ha, ha ha. They are really milking the play on words. Vancouver Fashion Industry >> Meetup hosted by Next Door Style (Wed. January 14)
On Wednesday January 14th (at 7pm), a small meet up for the Vancouver Fashion Industry will be held at Raw Canvas (1046 Hamilton Street). I haven’t been to one of these before, but I imagine this would be a great networking opportunity for those are who interested in local fashion. Whether you’re a student, a fashion graduate, a retailer, in the media, a design/marketing student, a make-up-artist, a photographer, etc. (the list goes on) or just want to keep yourself “in the know” for this industry, why not check it out – there’s no cost to attend. Yaletown Shopping Night (Friday December 19)
Similar to the Gastown Shop Hop a few weeks ago, Yaletown is holding a shopping night on December 19th from 5pm to 9pm. Celebrate the holiday season with 36 of Yaletown’s finest retailers and restaurants and spend the evening shopping for yourself or loved ones. From looking at the list below, it seems like most of the deals are around 20% off – which isn’t that much but if you had your eye on something in Yaletown anyway, this Friday would be the night to buy it! Skimming the list below, perhaps you can stop by Section 3 for 2 for 1 appies and drinks after you shop? Or get your hair done at Blo at 15% off before heading off to a fancy Christmas party? Opus Bar – Van Gogh Live Art Series
Last night was the monthly Van Gogh Live Art Series held at Opus Bar in Yaletown. The unique event concept featured local artist, Michael Solomon, creating art on the spot. On a nearby table was an auction form on which potential buyers could put a bid on the piece of artwork by the end of the night. Guests were also treated to an in-house DJ and complimentary tastings of Van Gogh vodka mixed with hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.

The Van Gogh Live Art Series takes place the first Wednesday of every month at Opus Bar and Hotel in Yaletown.
