Another fragrance twist off a classic scent, Calvin Klein has released Forbidden Euphoria, which is “the younger interpretation of the iconic euphoria fragrance”.  The scent evokes a modern, fresh sexiness – with its fruity top notes and a heart of light florals.  I like the curved, feminine shape of the bottle, and the amethyst/pink gradient on the bottle – I find it very soothing to look at!

The caped, flying character on the bottle is made up of bright, primary colours and remind me of a retro comic book.  Some sort of combination between Wonder Woman and the Powerpuff Girls.

Marc Jacobs BANG has entered the male fragrance market with, for lack of a better word, a bang! This distinct bottle is hard to miss with its bold black and silver design. The smoky black heavyweight faceted glass bottle is contracted with high shine silver metallic plaques shielding front and back – giving off a powerful and masculine feel.

As Marc Jacob’s newest scent in almost a decade, BANG has ignited the men’s marketplace with a dynamic balance of modern sophistication and irresistable scent.   Marc Jacobs BANG is peppery, woody and spicy. Its top notes consists of a threesome of black, pink and white peppercorn.  And it’s interesting to note that an oiled up Marc Jacobs is the model behind the BANG advertisements – lying naked on a silver sheet with only an oversized bottle of BANG to cover up his parts, giving the entire campaign a personal touch when you know the designer himself is behind this project.

BANG is available at The Bay, Murale, Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs and Sephora, the Eau De Toilette Spray retails for $69 and $95 (50ml and 100ml).  Matching products in the same line includes aftershave balm ($67) and the deostick ($32).

Described as vibrant, charming and whimsical, Daisy Eau So Fresh is the “spirited new version” of the original Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance. “It transports you to a place that is happy and sunny exuding a youthful spirit with a positively fresh and charmingly simple feeling”.  Before even opening my bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy “Eau So Fresh”, I already knew I would love it based on the description of its fragrance notes.  Despite the floral name, Eau So Fresh is actually a fruity twist on the original Daisy fragrance radiating with “crisp raspberry, sensuous wild rose, and deep and warm plum.”  I definitely can smell a surprising whiff of raspberry in the fragrance; however, it was one of those times where I couldn’t quite put my finger (nose) on what the scent was until I re-read the description.  The overall scent is clean and crisp, and perfect for a transition into the spring season.

Base: Musks, Plum, Cedarwood

I also think the bottle design is very pretty.  ”An over-the-top interpretation, the cap is the bottle’s most playful aspect, pushing whimsy to new heights.  The exaggerated gold cap is topped with six pink daisies that are soft to the touch with a pop of neon yellow hidden amongst the daisies.”  Never mind that the daisy clusters are made of plastic, the texture of the flowers are made of a soft, bendable rubber, which is not tacky like hard plastic.  The pink tinted glass gives the bottle an aura of innocence and femininity, but the gold centres of the oversized daisy clusters topping the lid add a touch of class and elegance.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh will be available in February 2011 at Holt Renfrew and in March 2011 at retail locations including The Bay, Shopper’s Drug Mart and Sephora.

Marc Jacobs Pomegranate creates a fresh sensation, capturing the sparkling radiance of an exotic fruit.  Vibrant and upbeat, pomegranate exudes an inviting balance of elegance and brightness. With top notes of mandarin flowers, bergamot, lemon chiffon, rhubarb and violet mix with pomegranate, this fragrance can definitely be classified with a citrus scent.

Marc Jacobs Biscotti tempts the senses with its savoury aroma and a touch of citrus.  Uniquely delectable and crisp, biscotti is the perfect pick-me-up.  This comforting and refreshing interpretation is unique and beautifully surprising. Although the top notes are of freesia, bergamont and orange flower, for some reason, the scent closely resembles liquorice to me.
