ORB Clothing – Hoodie Swap (Saturday April 4 at 10am)
Orb Clothing (2028 West 4th Avenue) is celebrating its first anniversary on Saturday, April 4 with the second-ever Hoody Swap charity clothing drive to benefit Beauty Night Society. Long story short, if you’re one of the first 50 people through the doors of Orb on Saturday April 4th (starting at 10am), with a used hoody to donate, you will receive a free, brand new Orb hoody in exchange. Your old hoody will then be donated to Beauty Night, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides makeovers and other wellness programs to women and youth in need.

Also, everyone who visits the store on April 4 will receive an Orb Empowered card, which offers 10% off all Arson Girl and Orb regularly priced items in the store all the time. BCAMA – Pattern of Trends (Tuesday March 24)
This is the most fashion-relevant BC American Marketing Association (BCAMA) event that I have come across. It’s early though – 7:30am at Four Seasons Hotel (791 West Georgia Street) with speakers from Bootlegger, Aritzia and Westcomb. The MC is blogger Craig Long of The Commodified (who is now the assistant editor of MONTECRISTO Magazine). On site registration price is $52.50 for non-BCAMA members, $40 for members and $25 for students. I’ll be there if I can get up early enough….. Click here for details.

Aritzia – “Snooze You Lose” Sale (begins Thursday Feb. 5, 2009)
It’s that time of year again! The Aritzia “Snooze You Lose” sale started today, February 5th with 50% to 70% off select fall and winter merchandise. Keep checking this space to see what good deals there are as I make my way downtown to see what I can find! However…I’m slightly skeptical because I’ve noticed that Aritzia has been having big sales in the post-Christmas weeks already so I wonder how much more discounted their stuff will be….

**Update** So I checked out the sale and it’s nothing spectacular – other than the fact that the peacoat I bought two weeks ago is a hundred bucks cheaper. But the rest of the sale is sort of random, at least at the Robson branch. A lot of variety of clothing on sale, but few sizes and colors so you’d be lucky if you found something exact.
Two of Hearts – Boutique Opening (Saturday Feb. 14)
On Saturday February 14th (just another day, right?), Two of Hearts, a local fashion label, is having the grand opening of their boutique at 3728 Main Street. Visit on opening day, between 11am and 7pm, and share your love for fashion with the designers, Jenny Yen and Tabitha Savoie, who will be featuring a ten percent discount on their Togs, Two of Hearts and CiCi line.

They have chosen to decorate their establishment with the same twist that can be found in their creations; “the theme of the store is eco chic with a vintage twist” says Jenny. The new space, formerly Madison’s on Main, incorporates the old wooden racks with new wood floors to create a clean natural feel. While a mix of modern and antique furniture and a splash of sassy red paint makes it a fun and flirty environment to find that perfect Valentine’s Day dress.

ULTRA – Official in-store Launch Party (Thursday Jan. 15)
Last fall, Modern Mix Vancouver wrote an article covering the ULTRA Menswear fashion show at Tunnel Lounge. Not too long after that, ULTRA made its debut at Vancouver Fashion Week. Now, finally, for the fans of this Euro-style mens clothing line by Christopher Bates, the clothing collect will finally be available for purchase to the public. The designer himself is throwing an official in-store launch party on Thursday January 15th at Seventy Three (73 East Cordova Street).
Here’s what you can expect for the night:
- 7pm to 10pm:
Shopping Party with “filthy electronic music” and cocktails. - 10pm onwards:
Afterparty at Bar None in Yaletown. Complimentary tickets including free cover and a free highball will be available for attendees at the launch party.

BOUDOIR – Holiday Fashion Show at Opus (Thursday Nov. 27, 2008)
Newly opened in April 2008, Boudoir (1230 Hamilton Street) is “bringing pretty back” with its first annual fashion show on Thursday November 27th at Opus Hotel in Yaletown. Doors open at 8pm with the fashion show beginning at 8:45pm. I’ll be there! Hope to see you there too.
