Imaginus Poster Sale at UBC
It’s that time of year again; the beginning of term where Imaginus brings a gigantic display of posters for sale at the Student Union Building at UBC. Adding to my Andy Warhol 11 x 14 inch poster collection, I purchased another two this afternoon. $8 each + tax, but Friday is the last day the posters will be on sale at the SUB. With a pink/black pop-art style image of Andy Warhol wearing hipster sunglasses, bold white text on top states: “the idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting“. So true, so true. The other captions I have in the series include:
- art is what you can get away with
- i think everybody should like everybody
- the world facinates me
- but i always say, one’s company, two’s a crowd and three’s a party
- i wonder if it’s possible to have a love affair that lasts forever

Vancouver Art Gallery – WACK! Coupon (expires Jan. 11, 2009)
I went to the Vancouver Art Gallery today to check out their “WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution” exhibition. In the corner of the second floor, there is this big garbage tree (excuse my lack of eloquence) that visitors are encouraged to interact with by either adding something or taking something way. I left two of my Modern Mix Vancouver business cards on that tree. Can you find them? Click the image below to get $5 off your visit to VAG’s “Wack!” exhibition before January 11th and save $5 off gallery admission.

Opus Bar – Van Gogh Live Art Series

Last night was the monthly Van Gogh Live Art Series held at Opus Bar in Yaletown. The unique event concept featured local artist, Michael Solomon, creating art on the spot. On a nearby table was an auction form on which potential buyers could put a bid on the piece of artwork by the end of the night. Guests were also treated to an in-house DJ and complimentary tastings of Van Gogh vodka mixed with hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.
