Over the years, the market has evolved to bigger venues, attracted more vendors and attendees, and has become a non-profit to better serve its mandate of supporting artists in the community. Creekside Kayak Rentals

For those of you who like outdoor activities without actually being out in the wilderness, Creekside Kayak is an awesome choice for kayak rentals. Twice in the past month, I’ve gone kayaking in False Creek. It’s no-pressure kayaking! The waters is fairly flat, and if you get tired you can just float for a while, enjoy the downtown skyline and wave at the driver and passengers of the Aqua Bus.

Triple O’s Mobile Food Restaurant

Triple O’s is on the go; quite literally, with its recent launch of their 30-foot mobile food cart. Joining the likes of La Brasserie and Nu Restaurant, which are local restaurants who have recently branched out into a “street cart” version, Triple O’s is utilizing its mobility to test potential new locations and menu items. According to Warren Erhart, President of White Spot Limited, these are the two greatest “x-factors” of any restaurant organization, before putting a stake in the ground.

Kiehl’s Robson – Grand Re-Opening (July 26th)

To celebrate the relocation, on their July 26th opening day, Kiehl’s will be hosting their widely-known “Shop For a Cause” initiatives. On that day, 100% of sales proceeds will be donated to Vancouver’s local Canucks for Kids Fund. Vancouver Canucks alumni Dave Babych will also be on hand to ring the official “store-opening bell” and launch “Shop for the Cause”.

True to its apothecary roots from the mid 1800′s, the new look of Kiehl’s on Robson features exposed brick walls, marble countertops and sterile looking stainless steel shelves, drawers and cabinets. To support Kiehl’s high standards of environmental responsibility, the brick walls and hardwood floor are both derived from reclaimed materials. Bright lights and neon signage with retro logos gives the store a modern twist. A shiny glass chandelier hangs from the ceiling (the original Kiehl’s in New York had multiple chandeliers). The iconic Mr. Bones, a teaching skeleton which is a reminder of the brand’s commitment to science and education, stands casually in a white lab coat by a display of lotions (not potions!) in stacked cubic shelves…

Space: A New Salon Experience

Space: A New Salon Experience

From Modern Mix Vancouver’s humble beginnings in 2008, we’ve always had a supporter in the charismatic and down-to-earth Michael Levine. Always changing with the times, Levine’s the creator of salon such as Caramel, Statik and Tao, the former two which he has abandoned for his latest project, Space Salon (528 West Broadway at Cambie).

Space is Levine’s conception inspired by New York based Ted Gibson Salon and Arrojo Studio, and the family of Cromeans Salons in San Diego. He spent time throwing ideas around with the three salon owners and has taken design and service ideation, mixing his own ideals of what a salon’s environment and service should be like. The defining feature of Space is that owner Michael Levine focuses each process of the salon experience and creates customized areas for each.
