Art Meets Technology at Metropolis at Metrotown’s Interactive “Mirage” Installation

In addition to being BC’s largest shopping centre destination with 400 shops and services, Metropolis at Metrotown is known for its large-scale shopping events, experiential exhibits (like last year’s #METlightroom) and generous shopping spree giveaways.

This summer’s focus is on MIRAGE, an exciting visual, audio and digital experience that was custom designed for Metropolis at Metrotown using state of the art projection technology and a mirrored ceiling and floor. MIRAGE is a unique and memorable digital art installation that offers a 2-minute walkthrough experience for customers.

“Technology is increasingly being used in our daily lives. We wanted to provide customers with a fun and unique experience that incorporates art and technology and MIRAGE is just that. It’s innovative, memorable and something that customers of all ages will be able to enjoy.” – Judy Black, Marketing Director at Metropolis at Metrotown

Shoppers who go through this virtual walk-though can share photos of their experience via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat with the #METMIRAGE hashtag and tag @MetropolisAtMet for a chance to win a $1,000 Grand Prize shopping spree or one of two weekly $100 gift card prizes.

In addition to MIRAGE, a 70 foot interactive light curtain will be on display over the Grand Court elevator, allowing visitors to choose 1 of 5 images to display on the curtain. Metropolis at Metrotown has also partnered with Burnaby Neighbourhood House, a volunteer driven non-profit, who will staff the event in exchange for a $10,000 donation from the Metropolis at Metrotown Community Investment Fund.

MIRAGE is located in the Grand Court of Metropolis at Metrotown and runs from now until September 5, 2016.
